We are the IVF Coaching Team!
We are two health care professionals who are passionate about everything that has to do with infertility. Berglind Ósk Birgisdóttir, on your left, has a B. Sc. degree in Nursing and on your left you can see Gyða Eyjólfsdóttir, Ph.D who is a Psychologist.
I have a B. Sc. degree in Nursing and I have personally experienced infertility and repeated failed IVF treatments. It took me and my husband 7 years and 11 treatments to become parents and during that long and difficult time I extensively studied the biological aspects of infertility. After reading studies on top of studies regarding infertility and IVF treatments I managed to self-diagnose my infertility problem and I sought out the appropriate treatment for myself that led to me finally getting pregnant and having a healthy little girl.
Having a personal experience with infertility and therefore knowing how hard the IVF journey is has inspired me to want to help others in the same situation. For the last couple of years I have been counseling women going through IVF treatments based on all the studies that I have read and we have now put in The IVF Coaching App. I’m happy to say that this counseling has helped almost all of them to become pregnant!
I was a board-member of the Icelandic Endometriosis Association from 2010-2014 and I have been a board-member of Tilvera, the Icelandic Infertility Association since 2012.
I am a Psychologist in Private Practice. Many of my loved ones struggled with getting pregnant and witnessing their pain made me determined to help people with their infertility struggles. In my clinical work I provide counseling to approximately 25% of Icelanders who seek IVF treatments. Through my education and clinical experience I know there are so many things people can do to make the IVF process easier, both emotionally and socially, as well as more effective. There is so much information out there on what you can do to improve your chances of becoming pregnant through IVF, feel better during the process and take back some of the control that is lost during the IVF process. I am blessed to see how such empowerment can make the difference in my clients’ struggle with becoming pregnant and it made me want to reach out to as many people as possible and share this information with them. That is why I wanted to create The IVF Coaching App.
In the last 10 years I have presented on the emotional aspects of infertility, psychological interventions for people with infertility, the two week wait, the stress that can accompany a pregnancy after IVF treatments, and more. A couple of years ago I released a DVD with a presentation on the emotional aspects of infertility and a CD with relaxation recordings. During this time, I have also collaborated closely with Tilvera – the Icelandic Infertility Association, presenting to it’s members, writing articles for their newsletter and responding to member’s questions on their website and in the newsletters.
The IVF Coaching App was an idea in my head for a few years. I thought about what I wanted to accomplish with it and knew I wanted it to be as good as possible in all aspects. Since my expertise is in the Psychosocial aspects of infertility, I wanted a partner who had excellent knowledge of the biological aspect of infertility, and my first choice was Berglind. I am so glad she said yes!
How it came about:
All our work involved in creating The IVF Coaching App has been on a voluntary basis. We managed to pay for programming of the Android version with a modest grant from Action for Job Creation: Grants to innovation projects and marketing activities of entrepreneurial and innovation start-up businesses, crowdfunding via Karolina Fund and our own money. The Android version was released in November 2014. Tilvera, the Icelandic Infertility Association helped us pay for the iOS version of the App.
We are now letting the world know that The IVF Coaching App can help with IVF treatments. Please help us spread the word by liking us on Facebook, following us on Twitter and telling people about the App.
Hearing how the App has helped people become pregnant has given us so much joy, making all the hard work worth it and making The IVF Coaching App by far our most rewarding work-related project to date.
Thank you for reading!

P.S. We want to thank RagnaK Photography for the beautiful photos she has allowed us to use. She took our photo, the photo of the pregnant woman in the flowing dress and the beautiful little girl you can see on the testimonials page.
